Peak Member Spotlight: Sharon!!

Sharon is our resident fun-loving, supporting, marketing machine, Super-Mom! Seriously, she is a really awesome person and her family rocks! We have enjoyed her being a part of the Peak Family and know that you will enjoy getting to know her better. Read on!!!
Who are you? Tell us a little about you, your family and your life
My name is Sharon Lee. I’m a wife and mom of two boys. My boys, Gabriel and Carson join me at the gym on occasion, and Gabriel is known to put me to shame on pull ups, running, rope climbing…you name it. Our family is fairly sports-centric. We love watching football, throwing football and going to high school football games. I’ve always been active. I love to hike and be outdoors. My husband, John, played baseball and football growing up and in college in TN. Our boys, therefore, are wired that way as well. Gabriel, who’s 10, just finished his 2nd football season, and has just made a travel baseball team for the spring (Heaven help us…). Carson just finished his 2nd season of t-ball and will move up to the next division (whatever that’s called) in the spring. Both started taking Karate when they were 4-years-old. Gabriel is a Black Belt and Carson is a Blue Belt.
So, our nights and weekends seem to be filled with practices of some sort.
I love to cook (even though I’m the mom of the pickiest eaters known to man). I love to hang out on our newly-built deck and escape from reality with a glass of wine and an episode of Outlander or a football game.
I work full time (understatement…). The company I work for, Cantsink, does foundation repair in the metro market and we also build solar farms around the southeast. I’m formerly the chairperson of the GA Solar Energy Association, and have been a board member for years. So, if you want to talk solar policy, I’m your “man”…so to speak. And…working in a very male-dominated industry allows me a number of golfing opportunities, which I LOVE!
We have attended Celebration Church for 13 or so years, and love it! I’m formerly the Women’s Ministry Chairperson, and have been involved in the Youth Ministry ever since Gabriel was born.

What are your hobbies?
Napping (although that’s a rarity!) Playing golf. Is shopping a hobby? Decorating for holidays throughout the year.

What did you do before Peak and What brought you to Peak?
I went through a Boot Camp program after my 2nd son was born, which was heavy cardio, and focused on nutrition. After a few months going through the program, I was asked to become an instructor. I LOVED IT! Well…everything except for being on the field by 4:45 every weekday morning…especially those Jan/Feb mornings! But that franchise went under, and some of the other instructors and I started running a few days/week. That was unreliable. But several of them had gotten into CrossFit, and one of them found CrossFit Gwinnett/Peak Strength and Fitness online and recommended it to me, simply for geographical reasons. I called Caleb, and have been here ever since!

How has being a member here affected your life outside the gym? How has it affected your family?
Well, my main workout goal was to stay in shape enough to be in the mix with my kids. If they’re playing driveway basketball and want me to join in, I don’t want to be too out of shape to do it. Therefore the gym has kept me at “Fun Mom” status. None of the kids question the fact that I’m out there throwing football or playing whatever game is in the mix. And I LOVE that!

What is something we might not know about you?
Hmmmmm. I grew up in Tennessee, so I’m a huge Vols fan…even when it’s not fun to be a Vols fan. But anyone that knows me knows that. Ummmmm. I moved to Atlanta in 2003. I was working for a magazine printer, based in the DC area, and I was traveling all of the time. One of my fellow Magazine Association board members from Atlanta Magazine offered me a job. I moved to Atlanta and loved the fact that I had a job that helped me to learn my way around the city – without having to travel! I then went to work for a B2B publication after that, but was commuting to Alpharetta, which was tough. My current boss, who I didn’t know at the time, lived in my subdivision and we met…he learned about my background and offered me a job at Cantsink. It’s been a crazy ride, but a good one. OH! And the house that I lived in at that time is now the house of another gym member, Meghan Valentine! Small world, for sure! I LOVE seeing pictures of her family, enjoying the house that we loved so much! **sigh**

If you could be any animal for a day, what and why?
My former Black Lab, Bosco. He was a big sweetie with the BEST life.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
I’m not sure I’ve gone off-the-charts in the eating category, so I’ll go with escargot. Was not a big fan, but I lived to tell the story…

What is one of your big goals for 2017?
To survive 2017…and more. Not sure I have huge goals, other than not falling off the treadmill of life! Cheers!

Thanks for sharing and for being a part of the Peak Family!!
